Planning Your Home Business
Starting a home business, whether it's for local customers, making money online, or any home, retail or office project, takes careful preparation to succeed.
One of the crucial places to start, whether you're working at home, renting or buying a storefront location, or leasing a sales office, is with a plan. Not only is your plan your road map from start up to success, but it's also the key element in getting home loan.
The first thing you need to do is organize the data and information you need to include in your plan. Make an outline. The first pieces of information you'll need for your home plan is your company name, the product or products and service or services you'll be offering, the customers you envision marketing to or any customers you already have, the regional boundaries of your market (of course, with Internet marketing there may be no boundaries), the competition you have and the potential risks to your home success.
The first section of the plan is called the executive summary. Here is where you make
a broad overall statement about your company, what it does, why it exists, what you bring to the business. Generally talk about your products and services, the industry and its trends both locally and beyond and your marketing strategy. As you take each of these parts and detail them further along in your home plan, you'll want to include charts, graphs, and illustrations, for clarification and eye appeal.
Your entire plan should not extend beyond 50 pages.
Once the executive summary is completed, you'll go into more detail about your home business. Here is where you'll save what it's all about - whether it's making money online, or a local retail or service business, and so forth. You'll talk about the purpose behind your business. Perhaps you started a service for abused children because there isn't one luckily and your neighbor's child was abused. Maybe you decide no one does a good job of teaching people how to good recruitment advertising copy and you're going to work about a pamphlet that offers those tips and templates. Here is also where you talk about why you are the right person to start and grow this - why your expertise and training, as well as the expertise and training of anyone else you involve in the management of your home business, makes you likely to succeed.
Other parts of your plan include information on the industry you are entering, the market for the product you're going to offer working at home, and your projection of annual revenue as well as expenses.
I enlisted in the Navy in 1976 and served honorably for 21 years. In that time I advanced from E-1 to E-9, made 7 deployments to the Mediterranean, Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean, Red Sea, Greater Caribbean and Western Pacific. My ships of choice were Destroyers and Frigates. On shore duty assignments I served as an Instructor for Air control and basic Operations Specialist “A” School (radar & communication operators).
The USN sent me to Leadership, Management, Instructor and Technical schools and an assortment of Team Trainers. Team Work being an essential part of any organization especially combat operations. I joined the Fleet Reserve in June of 1996.
